How To Best Define Keywords For Your Niche

One common mistake made by many marketers is to choose one or two-word keywords. This is a mistake because there are millions of marketers vying for the same one or two targeted key words. Even if you are paying the Search Engine to place your ad and defining the specific keywords, you will pay a very high price for those keywords and you may still be on page 3 or 4. It takes more than paying the price to get your ad or website on page one. But that's another article on how to get your website ranked high without paying a high price for it. Here I want to focus on choosing the right keywords for your specific niche.

Choosing the right keywords for your niche will take some thinking and re-thinking. I hate this cliche phrase, but I'm gonna have to say it, you need to "think outside the box". In old school language, "think creatively or be creative". Using a string of words will still bring hundreds of people to your site. For instance, if your niche is "Network Marketing", you could use the keywords; "network marketing for beginners", or "network marketing in Denver. The point is to come up with a string of words that still define your niche.

Keep in mind that search engines' spiders use sophisticated software used to search for the keywords. Websites are rated for relevance, the number of hits or customers who visited your site, the number of keywords in your website, and who knows what else. Search engines keep tweaking their spiders so that only relevant sites get on page one. They want the customer to be able to find what they are looking for and have a good experience. You want your site to be found too, so beef up your website with relevant material that a customer would be looking for. Junk websites don't make it very far. Your ranking is very important, as people will only do business with highly ranked sites or well known businesses. To make it with the "big boys" you really need to have a website that is impressive and informative.

Finding Keywords:

There are many "free" keyword tools that help you develop your own list of keywords. I have found the AdWords is easy and since Google is the top ranked search engine, there you will be getting good statistics to make your keyword choices. When you type in a common keyword, for instance "network marketing", you will see all the variations and how highly they are ranked. Highly ranked keywords are not what you want. Look down the list and see the variations on the two words and then type in a string of words to see what it is ranked. You can type in as many variations as you want and you will see how completely different they become. By doing this, you see how many websites are servicing a particular niche. Look for a niche that is popular, meaning the search engine keyword has visitors, but is under served, or open for competition. There may be millions of websites about "Network Marketing", but maybe only a handful that provide "School of Network Marketing", or "Network Marketing team players", or " Network Marketing on Steroids ".

Testing your keywords is "key" and will be well worth the time you put into it. With your list of keywords you will now need to analyze what defines your website and what does not. Keep trying using other words to make the keyword more relevant and then do another AdWords search to see what comes up. You may amaze yourself.

Once you develop your list of "long key words", then you need to use them in your website, in blogs, in ads, in anything you do online so that your website will be visited by the "spiders" and known for that particular keyword phrase. Be aware that you are not over using your keywords to the extent that it downgrades your content. People are reading this, you hope, and you don't want to turn them off. Also, search engines frown on this and you may be penalized for over using keywords.

There is no "perfect" keyword for any product or service. The best thing to do anyway is to have several keyword phrases that are relevant to your website. Now the fun begins, you get to test these keywords and track them to see if you are getting the results you want. If you are not getting results as in visitors, you can try using different combinations. Find the more effective keywords and expand on them so that your ranking improves in the search engines. This is how you can boost your market niche.

Tracking your keywords will help you track the number of visitors to your site, but you also want to know what keywords actually resulted in getting you a sale. This is called a "converted keyword", the very best kind of keyword. Once you find keywords that convert, take special care of them. Keep expanding and creating to keep your keyword phrase yours.

Oh, I forgot to mention, it's a never ending process so don't get discouraged, think of it as a challenge to find the golden "converted keywords". Happy Keyword Phrase Searching!

Niche Keyword Selection: How to Brainstorm

Selection of the most often-searched keywords is not necessarily the best option for SEO or PPC campaigns. Instead, it is significant to brainstorm niche keywords pertinent to your business. The most crucial undertaking of any online marketing campaign, be it either through the organic listings with applying SEO and link-building techniques or through PPC listings or with applying both, is keyword research.

Making selection of niche keywords for an online marketing campaign would be easier when you can avoid preferring the most highly searched keywords. Many companies tend to make a mistake by going for the broad or generic keywords related to their business instead of choosing targeted and specific keywords that are more precisely relevant to their business. Consider an example in this context. When a business deals in outdoor furniture building such as building and shipping of pergolas, gazebos, etc., that business should select keywords like 'outdoor furniture building' in place of 'furniture'. The later one will be too broad and highly competitive. So, brainstorm to get at the right keyword for a search engine optimization or pay-per-click campaign.

While attempting to fix keywords for your online business, remember that performing keyword research is more an art than a science. However, different experts opine differently in this regard, but all of them utter in unison while they say that a good keyword phrase is one which has a lot of web visitors searching for it, and not a competing web pages turning up in search engine results pages (SERP). Following are the suggested steps to help webmasters to pick out the niche keyword phrases.

Prepare a List of Keywords:

Keyword tools are undoubtedly important and their help is unavoidable. However, all those tools know your business better than you. The compulsory task at the very beginning you need to take up is to convene a meeting to discuss your products and services. It will be a brainstorming session where you need to keep on talking on the business. Place yourselves in the position of web visitors and think about what you would search for to find out your business on the web. While discussing, continue to note down 'important phrases' which were being used by the participants. Those important phrases need to be precisely relevant to your business. In the end of the discussion, weed out those phrases that are too broad. Remember that the process of weeding out of the generic keywords from the list should be based on the extent of your SEO or PPC campaign.

Choice of Specific Keyword Phrases:

Choose keywords keeping in mind the web visitors, who tend to use broad and specific keyword phrases. Minimize the numbers of broad or generic phrases to the utmost. Add them within the phrase instead. This will help draw your target web page on the top of search engine pages.

Avoid Selecting Highly Competitive Keywords:

Some experts may differ in this context. But, remember that highly searched phrases have high competition. For a small online business or for a beginner, it will be hard for them to compete for high-traffic phrases with large and established companies.

Say No to Broad Keyword Phrase:

If you aim to increase the volume of web traffic, then you can use broad or generic keyword phrases. But, at the same time, you have to remember that large volume of web traffic may scarcely be your potential buyers. True conversion rates may remain quite lower.

On whittling away your keyword list to include only 2-to-4-word phrases which are specifically relevant to your business, you can then go into keyword research tool and start plugging in. Look to add those keywords which have the best count-to-competition ratio. Experts are unanimous with regard to the fact that says the ideal keywords are those which have fewer sites competing for them and searched more often. Foundation of a successful online business stands on the intelligent selection of niche keywords.

Niche Keywords - How to Target Niche Markets With Niche Article Titles

It used to be the case that you can easily target any two-word phrase and rank well in the search engines. But those days are long gone. Today, if you want to be successful at article marketing, you need to know how to write articles for niche markets. Here is how you can target niche markets with well crafted keyword-rich article titles.

Step 1: Create a list of long tail keywords.
Step 2: Generate at least 5 article titles from each keyword phrase.
Step 3: Write at least 10 articles per day and submit to article directories.

Step 1: Create a list of long-tail keywords.

A long tail keyword is a phrase that is made up of at least 3 words. So "Internet marketing" is not a long tail keyword. "Internet marketing course" is a long tail word phrase. Notice that when you choose long tail word phrases, the topic narrows down to become something very specific. Your target phrases should ideally contain 3 to 5 words.

Step 2: Generate at least 5 article titles from each keyword phrase.

Generate 5 different article titles for each set of keywords. Make sure that all the titles are distinct enough so that your articles contain fresh content. The titles should contain the keywords and should also give the reader a general idea of what the article is about.

Here are some examples.

Example 1: "Internet Marketing Course - How to Market A Personal Blog"
Example 2: "Internet Marketing Course - Drive Traffic With Article Marketing"

Step 3: Write at least 10 articles per day and submit to article directories.

You can write about anything that you think your target customers will be interested in. Your articles are mostly how-to articles that contain expert advice. As you write, be as specific as possible. Provide practical solutions that your readers can really use.
