Writing Articles - Researching Keywords Specific to Your Niche

Many article marketers are concerned about keyword research. They are worried that they can't see a return on their time investment if they choose the wrong keywords. That is understandable because choosing the wrong keywords can hurt your business. You will have a harder time converting the visitors to buyers because the traffic is not targeted. Here is how to conduct proper keyword research for your niche.

Step 1: Choose a set of primary keywords.
Step 2: Use a niche keyword research software.
Step 3: Target keywords with high search volume and low competition.

Step 1: Choose a set of primary keywords.

Your primary keywords can be any keyword phrase with at least 2 words. You can choose a general phrase and then drill deeper for more specific phrases. For example, "weight loss" can be your primary keyword phrase. However, you are not going to be targeting those keywords because it's going to be hard to rank for a 2 word phrase. Use a niche keyword software to help you come up with a list of long tail keywords.

Step 2: Use a niche keyword research software.

A niche research software functions differently from a keyword research tool. A keyword research tool provides basic information about the popularity of a phrase. However, it says nothing about the search competition. A niche research software will be able to dig deeper and provide you with an analysis. In other words, the software can help you decide whether you should target the phrase or not.

Step 3: Target keywords with high search volume and low competition.

Based on the information provided by the software, choose words with a higher search volume. Ideally, these keywords should also have low competition in the search engines.
